I'm Rob and I will attempt to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail in 2014. I have been born and raised in Delaware my whole life and recently graduated high school. Despite being an BSA Eagle Scout I have little backpacking experience just a lot of camping. I heard about the Appalachian Trail a few years ago, but only recently my interest has grown into a full-blown obsession. I have done way more research than I like to admit reading every book and website about the AT 3 times over. I am planning to put my "real life" on hold for approximately 6 months (give or take a few weeks) and hike entire AT north to south. I am hiking the Trail for many reasons but primary I want to figure out what I want from life and to simply do something many people only dream of. Because of my lack of experience, college, funds, and the small possibility of being eaten by a bear some people are unsupportive. Despite these people I feel this trip will be one of a lifetime and will pursue it no matter what. Cant wait to get on the trail!
