Day 6 Tray Mt.- Blueberry Patch Hostel

11 mile day to Dicks Creek Gap and staying at the Blueberry Patch Hostel. Last night was about 19○ not counting wind,  but I slept pretty well while others in the shelter barely shut an eye. Was sore again today but if feeling normal it would be a fairly easy hike. Got to Dicks Creek around 2:30 and met the owner,Gary who came to pick up another group of hikers but took us as well. After getting situated at the hostel I took a fantastic shower and changed into some clean clothes donated to the hostel. Gary took us to an all you can eat pizza place where we had the best pizza I probaly ever had. Gary picked us back up took us back to the hostel and just relaxed the rest of the night. Got my trail name at the hostel from this moment on I shall know as Mumbles ( if you've ever heard me talk then you would understand.)

  1. I can't remember how I found your blog but it's awesome! My wife and I will be on trail in two weeks. Maybe we will catch up with you at trail days or something.

  3. You are doing great and hiking at a perfect pace to be in Hiawassee in six days. You will be in Hot Springs (two great hostels there) in two weeks. After Hot Springs you will be seasoned and will be in rhythm with the trail. You will love the Smokies, and jump out at Newfound Gap if you can and go into Gatlinburg for the night, It is the most honky tonk place in America and worth the one time experience, lot's of food there. I hope you get to meet Beth and Bernie (the best trail angels on the AT) at Newfound Gap. Just keep eating, especially protein, (hard salami which is cured packs well and will provide you the needed meet on the trail).
